ok, so Thanksgiving Day has officially expired and, especially for those of you who are like me, that means that Christmas tunes are now officially part of our worship sets for the next several weeks. Here's what I'm wondering:
Which Christmas tunes have provided particularly special moments at YOUR church?

Christmas service HAS to have "Silent Night" or it just wouldn't feel complete...outside of that, I love when there is a special song outside of the traditional-not for us to sing, but to enjoy from our talented vocalists/musicians we are blessed with at our church. :)
"O Holy Night"
We have done "The Heart of Worship" as "The Heart of Christmas" and have been trying to find out recently if we would get in trouble for doing it that way legally. It really works for the song though!
Gloria- MercyMe version and also
O Holy Night/O Come All Ye Faithful- TSO (instrumental)
We like to rock a little bit at Christmas:)
That's awesome, Mike! We've done the 'Heart of Christmas' thing for a couple of years now, too! I think it falls under a parody clause legally, but we don't actually change the lyric on the screen anyway... I just tell 'em a couple choruses in to start singing 'Christmas' instead of worship...
Good stuff! Thanks for the comment!

Try this. You don't have to make sound so "hokey" but, the congregation loves the upbeat tempo! "This is what Christmas means to me" http://www.praisecharts.com/index.php?ID=3227&action=search&module=shopping&what=details
O Holy Night...
I prefer not to start doing Christmas music till the week of Christmas. I'm not a big fan of Christmas carols. One song that I really like to use during Christmas season in worship is "Offering" by Paul Baloche.
Our family has two favorite songs --traditional would be "Little Drummer Boy and nontraditional would be "Christmas Shoes". By the way--we love Christmas songs and can't wait to listen to them. In fact, Delilah on the radio plays them nonstop until Christmas--its great!!!
We have 2 praise teams, early morning, which is more southern gospel, and 2nd service, which is strait contemporary. We will have 1 service for Christmas and it will be a combination of both traditional and contemporary blended together. "Joseph's Lullaby" by MercyMe made the list, so did "Oh, Holy Night"by David Phelps and Casting Crowns version of "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Morning". Silent Night is always on the list but I'm not sure if we will just sing it or play music with it.
Must have Joy to the World!!!
In the past some that have been really special were "Silent Night" on guitar only with all the lights out and just candlelight.
This year we are focusing on light and how we must receive The Light and that we then need to shine The Light into the world and are doing Fee's "You Are The Light".
We're throwing in "God With Us" by MercyMe this year.
